Welcome to CBT

This is not a traditional classroom.

You are here to demonstrate what you can do — not just answer questions. You move at your own pace, practice on real equipment, and are assessed when you are ready. The trainer guides. You lead your own learning.

Training Approach

How is CBT different?

Traditional Training
  • Teacher sets the pace for everyone
  • Assessed at a fixed schedule
  • Graded on a percentage scale
  • Focus on covering the curriculum
  • One-size-fits-all delivery
Competency-Based Training (CBT)
  • You progress at your own pace
  • Assessed when you are ready
  • Result: Competent or Not Yet Competent
  • Focus on what you can actually do
  • Individualized, self-paced learning
CBT Principles · 01–05
01
Training is based on curriculum developed from competency standards.
02
Learning is competency-based — you must demonstrate mastery, not just knowledge.
03
Training delivery is individualized and self-paced.
04
Training is based on work that must actually be performed in the workplace.
05
Training materials are directly tied to the competency standards and curriculum.
CBT Principles · 06–10
06
Assessment is based on evidence of performance to workplace standards.
07
Training has both on-the-job and off-the-job components.
08
The system allows Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for existing competencies.
09
The system allows trainees to enter and exit at different points in the program.
10
Approved training programs are nationally accredited by TESDA.
